The age of California compliance

The baseline is the law.

California gives residents real rights over their personal information. Meeting them is not a nice-to-have, it is the minimum. Four things every legal vendor should have in place:

01

An accurate privacy policy

It should describe what you collect, why, who receives it, and how people exercise their rights. California requires it to be updated at least once every 12 months.

02

Real opt-out choices

People need a clear way to opt out of the sale or sharing of their information, and that choice has to be honored.

03

Honor opt-out signals

Under California regulations, browser signals like Global Privacy Control must be treated as a valid request to opt out of sale or sharing.

04

Answer rights requests

Residents can ask to know, delete, or correct their information, and businesses need a clear way to receive and respond.

Practicing what we recommend

Coastal has a privacy notice, with real choices behind it.

Coastal Research works with sensitive information every day, so our own privacy program is not an afterthought. Our privacy policy and privacy request portal are hosted and maintained with Captain Compliance, and our Trust Center shares how we approach security and compliance.

Our recommendation for legal vendors
