Coastal Investigative Research LLC (“Coastal”) values the trust of the attorneys who engage our services. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of information. Our mission is to provide lawful investigative services, in good faith, and with full respect for the privacy and security of all information provided to us.

1. Scope of Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all information submitted to Coastal by licensed attorneys in connection with investigative services. It does not apply to consumers directly. Coastal does not solicit or collect information from the general public.

2. Information We Collect
Coastal collects only the information submitted by attorneys, including:

Law firm contact details,

Attorney or staff contact details,

Case identifiers (plaintiff/defendant names, case numbers, dates of loss), and

Supporting documents attorneys choose to provide (e.g., police reports, claims letters, insurance cards).
Coastal does not independently collect data from consumers, insurers, credit bureaus, healthcare providers, or government databases.

3. Information We Do Not Collect
Coastal does not, and will not, collect or provide:

Financial account data such as bank numbers, balances, or transactions (GLBA),

Consumer credit data such as credit scores, reports, or histories (FCRA),

Medical or health records, including protected health information (HIPAA),

Motor vehicle records that are protected under law (DPPA),

Insurance claim file contents, including adjuster notes, loss histories, or settlement evaluations,

Telecommunications data, including call logs or phone records,
-
Government benefit or tax records, or
-
Any other nonpublic personal information is restricted under federal or state privacy laws.
Coastal is not a consumer reporting agency, does not assemble or furnish consumer reports, and does not evaluate individuals for credit, insurance, employment, or eligibility purposes.

4. How We Use Information
Information submitted to Coastal is used solely to perform investigative services directed by attorneys, specifically to confirm liability insurance policy limits in accident-related matters.
We do not use information for marketing, profiling, resale, or any purpose beyond attorney-directed assignments.

5. How We Share Information

Coastal does not sell, rent, or trade information.

Information is disclosed only to staff performing the investigative assignment.

Information may be disclosed if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

6. Attorney Responsibility
By submitting information to Coastal, attorneys certify that:

They have lawful authority to provide the information,

Submission complies with all professional and ethical obligations,

Information is provided solely for lawful investigative purposes, and

Attorneys remain solely responsible for verifying, safeguarding, and lawfully using any results provided by Coastal.

7. Data Security
Coastal maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access or misuse. Attorneys are encouraged to provide only information necessary for investigative services.

8. Limitations of Liability
Coastal is not responsible for:

Errors, omissions, or misstatements made by third parties,

Attorney's misuse of information, or
-
Damages resulting from reliance without independent verification.
All results are provided strictly “as is,” for informational purposes only, and are not admissible in court as proof of coverage.

9. Corporate Affiliation
Coastal Investigative Research LLC and Policy Trace AI are separate companies under common ownership of GTC Inc. This Policy applies solely to Coastal.

10. Compliance With Laws
Coastal is committed to complying with all applicable privacy laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

GLBA (Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act),

FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act),

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act),

DPPA (Driver’s Privacy Protection Act),

State privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), and similar frameworks.

This Privacy Policy and all services provided by Coastal are governed exclusively by the laws of the State of Idaho.
